Self Help not Sympathy. MEND Trust ( Mobility Equipment for Needs of Disabled ) is based in Keri Keri, New Zealand.

Run by Rob Buchanan, a resident of New Zealand and a citizen of Australia and US, MEND is a charitable Trust, set up to help people with disabilities to become more independent.

Currently MEND is in the process of developing a low cost solution for Limb amputees that stand up to the demands in mainly low income countries in Asia and Africa. Prototypes are currently being tested in Nepal and India. Current manufacturing costs are around US$ 4 for a limb.
